Monday, June 6, 2016 ~ Today was supposed to be Death Valley Day. Just about everyone we talked with encouraged us to skip the trip to Death Valley because of the temperatures in the 120s. It would have been a five-hour round-trip car ride in the heat and then nothing we could do when we arrived there. Also, there had been a flood in October 2015 and repairs have not been completed.

Jacob was disappointed, but understood that our safety was a huge consideration in our not going and he was not liking the dry, arid heat.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch and walked around the Las Vegas Strip. The boys were fascinated by the casinos and wanted to watch me gamble. Well, not being much of a gambler, I played a few slot machines close to an open-air restaurant where the boys were having a cold drink. I came away with about $50 and I was done, ready to go back to the hotel and begin our packing.
