Saturday, June 4, 2016 ~ After eating our final buffet at the Grand Canyon Cafe, we hit the road for Las Vegas. I have not been to Las Vegas since 2004 when Rod and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. I wasn't very fond of it then, but it's a mid-point between the Hoover Dam and Death Valley.

We stopped at the Hoover Dam on our way into Las Vegas. The temperature was 110 degrees and it was very crowded so we did not stay very long, just long enough for the boys to see the dam and get a feel for some of the history surrounding the dam's construction.

The boys enjoyed looking at Lake Mead and the Lake Mead marina from the scenic overlook. The water was a pretty blue and there was lots of boating activity on the lake.

We stopped in a Henderson, NV Walmart for gas, a few grocery items and an iPhone case for Jacob. We arrived at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Las Vegas early afternoon - temperature 112 degrees.

After unloading the car and unpacking, we went to the Flamingo buffet for dinner. I gave the boys a choice and they chose the Flamingo because of the wildlife. It was definitely not as I remembered it, the food was OK, but not great, and it was VERY expensive. Lesson learned...

We walked across the street to Caesar's Palace to check out the Apple Store where I had an appointment for Sunday morning. Jacob was completely enthralled with the statues at Caesar's. I was amazed that he knew them all by name and could give me a brief history of each one. After spending time walking around, we Ubered back to the HGVC.
